July 9 rustiKA - Jazz in July 2015 Performance

7.30pm @ Esplanade Concourse, Singapore

rustiKa is a jazz quartet featuring Karen de Silva, Xanthus Ching, Joel Chua and Anson Koh, no strangers to the local music scene. rustiKa was initiated as a collaboration between friends and fellow LASALLE graduates, Xanthus Ching of Rustic Vibes and Karen de Silva from the AcoustiKa Jazz Quartet. As active performers, the band's members have between them graced SingJazz, JB Jazz Festival, New Zealand International Jazz Festival, JB Arts Festival and Esplanade's Jazz in July and Mosaic Music Festival.

Drawing from the the great creative energy and wonderful experience working together has given us when rustiKa performed at the inaugural JB Jazz Festival 2015, we would like to present our music again, this time playing all original compositions by our band members. Our music aims to capture the spirit of youthful exuberance of today’s generation while paying tribute to the roots of jazz. Being both performers and composers, our inspiration comes from the soundscapes surrounding us in Singapore, love, growing pains, cultural roots, favourite grooves heard on the radio…just about everything which has had an impact on our lives!

Support local music & join us on our journey of self discovery and get to know us more through our originals. Free admission!
